Hmm … Am I correct is saying that this doesn’t seem to be available to people without Apple computers/machines in their lives? Is this podcast available somewhere else (a search online seems to only lead to the Apple page).
Hi. I’m surprised at how much I’ve enjoyed your podcast episodes. I haven’t played Rolemaster in decades, but my fondest RPG memories are RM memories. So thank you. Your guests are interesting. There’s no side chit-chat to bog down your straight to the point episodes. You have excellent questions and comments, being so knowledgeable about the game and its history yourself. And, drum roll, you make the episodes about your guests! Well done. I look forward to the next episodes.
The only note I could give would be to find a way to produce better overall audio — I don’t know if it’s because I work in video for a living, but I’m afraid I can’t sit through the fourth very echo-y episode. So if I may, here are some simple ideas you might consider trying to improve the audio — apologies for the unasked for suggestions.
+ Guests *must* use headphones. This is the only way to kill echos easily and at the source. These headphones don’t need to be fancy at all. Any pair will do.
+ Short of using online recording sites, or having your guests use OBS or some other program to record their audio on their personal computer, have them record their side of the interview on their (well positioned) smartphones while the interview is being conducted. They can then email you that recording, which will give you more options when editing the episode, using your own recording, captured (I assume) via Zoom/Skype/Discord/whatever.
+ If the interview sounds bad right off the bat, either fix the issue, or cut it short and reconvene.
Thanks for the feedback. Yes, the audio on episode 04 wasn’t great. Derrick was just using his microphone on his laptop and moving around a bit. It’s difficult to require guests to go and buy a microphone and I was hoping the software would eliminate the echo effect. I’m posting episodes up out of order that I recorded them, and I’d like to think it’s getting better. The next episode also had some audio artifacts due to some latency issues (guest was overseas) but I’m hoping listeners will be forgiving!! I’m using Riverside.FM to record and edit these episodes.
